    In this excerpt from a 1993 interview, Ed Stuever, a maintenance sergeant in the 712th Tank Battalion, tells of Old Buck, an aging horse that rode in the campaigns against Pancho Villa. He also tells how he got his nickname while in the veterinary detachment of the 11th Cavalry.

 

2005

Kay Brainard Hutchins had one brother who was a prisoner of war and another who was missing in action. So she up and joined the Red Cross and served in England, hoping she could be closer to them when any news arrived. Her brother Bill survived the war, but her brother Newell died on the Kassel Mission, murdered on the ground by labor camp guards after bailing out of his plane.
