 The 712th Tank Battalion was on the front lines from Normandy to Czechoslovakia. During 11 months of combat, most of them with General George S. Patton's 3rd Army, the battalion became known as the "Armored Fist" of the 90th Infantry Division.

Once Upon a Tank in the Battle of the Bulge

The lead tank was knocked out and its tank commander wounded. Forty-seven years later, four of that tank's five crew members sat around a table in the hospitality room at the battalion's 1992 reunion and relived those fateful moments during the Battle of the Bulfe. Aaron Elson sat in on the conversation. He then interviewed each of the four veterans individually and visited the fifth member of the crew at his home. The result is "Once Upon a Tank in the Battle of the Bulfe," a 10-hour, 10-cd audiobook that shows through the voices of the courageous men who were there a deeply human side of World War II.
